A joint security operation in Kebbi State has neutralised four suspected bandits following a fresh attack on a community, while a member of the local vigilante group, popularly known as Yansakai, was also killed during the confrontation.
The incident occurred when suspected bandits invaded the area, prompting a coordinated response by security personnel and local vigilantes. The ensuing gun battle forced the attackers to retreat after four of the suspects were killed.
Authorities confirmed that one Yansakai operative lost his life during the exchange of fire, while efforts are ongoing to strengthen security in the affected community and prevent further attacks.
Security agencies said operations have been intensified to track down fleeing members of the armed group and restore calm in the area. Residents have also been urged to remain vigilant and provide credible information to support ongoing counter-banditry efforts.
