The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested several suspects and disrupted criminal activities in separate operations across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, disclosed this during a briefing in Kaduna, saying the operations were driven by intelligence gathering and collaboration with communities and other security agencies.
According to the commissioner, a suspected gunrunner was arrested at Yan’Karfe Motor Park in Sabin Gari, Zaria, with with two AK-49 rifles, 228 rounds of RPG ammunition, 275 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and five AK-47 magazines allegedly concealed in a sack he was carrying while three other suspects allegedly linked to an armed bandit group were apprehended along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.
Police also reported the recovery of firearms and ammunition during the operations, alongside other exhibits connected to suspected criminal activities.
In another operation, officers intercepted a suspect along Kachia Road and recovered additional ammunition. The command said investigations were ongoing to establish the source and intended destination of the items.
The police further announced arrests in connection with alleged robbery and sexual assault incidents around Rafin Tukurwa, Zaria, as well as the alleged vandalisation of critical infrastructure at the Infectious Disease Centre in Mando.
The command also recovered a stolen vehicle belonging to the Kaduna State Water Board after tracking it to Kano State.
Muhammad said investigations into the various cases were ongoing and assured residents that suspects would be prosecuted upon completion of investigations.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with timely information to help prevent crime and strengthen security across the state.
