Supreme Court Mandates Digital filing: Lawyers Must Comply

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has instructed all lawyers with cases to be heard from September to December 2026 to upload their court documents using the Nigerian Case Management System (NCMS).

According to the Chief Registrar of the Court, Kabir Eniola Akanbi, is in compliance with Rule 10(1) of the Supreme Court Practice Direction, 2026.

A statement made by Akanbi on Tuesday in Abuja outlined the steps to be taken by lawyers to access the list of appeals and motions fixed for hearing.

Lawyers must upload all case documents relating to their matters, like the record of appeal, briefs of argument, and pending motions, at least 30 days before their hearing date, as required under Rule 10(1) of the Supreme Court Practice Direction, 2026.

Lawyers were told to comply strictly with the directive to facilitate the seamless operation of the Nigerian Case Management System and ensure efficient and timely determination of cases.
