Fulani Herdsmen Attack Benue Community, Resident Flee

Suspected armed herdsmen attacked a community in Ugboju, Otukpo, Benue State, on Tuesday morning, forcing residents to flee their homes.

CSONews24 gathered that the attackers stormed the community in the early hours of the day and opened fire, forcing residents to flee for safety.

Labour Party House of Assembly candidate for the 2027 elections, Hon. Jimmy Nart, a native of the community, stated that the attack was still in progress when the report was filed.

In a message, he wrote: “I just received information from my family that Fulani terrorists are currently attacking Ondo, Ugboju. Protect yourself.”

The latest attack comes barely 48 hours after suspected armed herdsmen invaded Otukpo-Nobi community in the same local government area, where more than 18 people were reportedly killed.

As of the time of filing this report, the exact number of casualties from the latest attack could not be independently verified.

The Benue State Police Command has not yet officially commented on the attack. Calls and a text message to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, seeking confirmation and comments were unsuccessful.

Residents said the situation remained tense as many families continued to flee the area for fear of further attacks.
