US records could jeopardise 2027 re-election bid – Ayodele warns Tinubu

The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that the possible release of documents allegedly held by the United States government could have serious political consequences for his 2027 re-election bid.

Ayodele, in a statement issued on Tuesday by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, claimed that influential interests were working to secure the release of the documents, which he said could significantly affect the President’s political future.

The cleric’s comments come amid legal proceedings in the United States concerning access to records relating to Tinubu, with former Vice-President and opposition politician Atiku Abubakar among those seeking their release.

Ayodele alleged that Tinubu was underestimating the potential implications of the matter and accused individuals purportedly working to prevent the release of the records of misleading the President.

“If those documents come out, it will end Tinubu’s second term because the power behind it is heavy. Tinubu is just playing around it; people working to stop it are only deceiving him,” he said.

The cleric further identified the United States as one of what he described as the major challenges facing the President, insisting that the records could be released at the discretion of the US authorities.

“If America is ready, they will release it, and that’s why I said America is one of Tinubu’s problems. The documents are there, and there are plans to release it,” Ayodele said.

He urged Tinubu to take additional measures to prevent the documents from becoming public, claiming that there were already plans to release them.

Ayodele also predicted that the disclosure of the records, if it occurs, could trigger major political developments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“If this document comes out, an interim government is imminent, and there will be a serious effect on the election,” he said.

However, the cleric did not provide details of the alleged documents or evidence to substantiate his claims about their contents or the political consequences he predicted.

His assertions could not be independently verified.
