REA Chief Backs Tinubu’s Appointment of Fayose, Others to Governing Board

The Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Abba Aliyu, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose and other members to the agency’s governing board, describing the move as a strategic step towards expanding electricity access across Nigeria.

Aliyu said the composition of the new board reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening the governance of the agency and accelerating the delivery of sustainable energy solutions, particularly in rural and underserved communities.

According to him, the appointments will provide the leadership and policy direction needed to fast-track ongoing rural electrification projects while advancing the Federal Government’s clean energy and renewable power agenda.

“Our visionary leader, President Tinubu, is intentional about ensuring that every Nigerian has access to reliable electricity. With these new appointments, the President has further demonstrated his keen commitment to our success,” Aliyu stated.

He expressed confidence that the board’s wealth of experience would enhance collaboration, improve institutional efficiency and support the agency’s efforts to bridge the country’s electricity access gap.

The REA boss reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to working closely with the new board to expand reliable electricity supply, promote renewable energy adoption and drive inclusive socio-economic development across the country.
