Families of victims kidnapped in Kwara State have appealed to the government for urgent action after alleged kidnappers rejected a ₦155 million ransom offer made for the release of their loved ones.Alhaji Abdul Ibrahim, who represented the affected families, said he lost 10 relatives and still had 35 family members in captivity.
“We raised N155 million and took it to them, but they refused to accept it, saying it was not enough. We returned with the money and have not heard from our relatives since. We appeal to the Federal Government and the Kwara State Government to rescue them because there is nothing more we can do,” he said
The families disclosed that despite efforts to secure the victims’ freedom through negotiations, the abductors refused the payment, leaving relatives increasingly worried about the safety and wellbeing of those in captivity.
The lawmaker representing the area in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Sa’idu Baba Ahmed, urged the Federal Government to step up efforts to rescue the captives, saying the prolonged wait had increased the suffering of the affected families.
The incident has heightened concerns over the growing threat of kidnapping in parts of Kwara State, with residents calling for stronger security measures to prevent further attacks and ensure the safe return of abducted persons.
The families appealed to the government to prioritise the rescue operation, adding that decisive action was needed to restore confidence among communities affected by insecurity.
