The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria ,JUSUN, has condemned the alleged machete attack on a judge of an area court in Mayo-Inne, Fufore Local Government Area, Dauda Hamman, Adamawa State, describing the incident as a serious threat to judicial officers and the administration of justice.
The union expressed concern over the safety of judicial personnel, stressing that judges and other court officials must be able to perform their duties without intimidation or violence.
“Judges in rural courts are exposed to high risks due to the nature of cases they handle and the absence of sufficient protection, a situation that must be addressed urgently.” JUSUN stated.
JUSUN called on security agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
The union also urged the authorities to strengthen security around courts and provide adequate protection for judicial officers, particularly in vulnerable locations.
It warned that attacks on judges could undermine public confidence in the justice system and disrupt the effective administration of justice.
JUSUN reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the welfare and safety of judicial workers and called for urgent measures to prevent similar incidents.
