ABUJA – The Yatso Renaissance Banquet, held in honour of the newly elected National Executives of the Kuteb Yatso of Nigeria (KYN), has brought together Kuteb leaders, traditional stakeholders, community representatives and supporters in a renewed call for unity, cultural preservation, peace and sustainable development.
The banquet, held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, was organised by the KYN Abuja Chapter in collaboration with the Kuteb Elders Forum. Themed “One People, One Vision,” the event provided an avenue for members of the Kuteb community in Nigeria and the diaspora to celebrate the emergence of the new national leadership while reflecting on the future of the Kuteb Nation.
Delivering his welcome address, the National President of KYN, DIG Christopher Katso (Rtd), welcomed guests and expressed appreciation to supporters of the Kuteb traditional institution, particularly the Royal Father of the occasion, the Ukwe Takum, His Royal Majesty, Ukwe Rimamnyang Habu Ahmadu II, and the Bikwe Kpambo, Kwambai, Lissam and Bika Chiefdoms for their continued fatherly support.
Katso underscored the importance of preserving the culture, traditions and identity of the Kuteb people, stressing that cultural heritage remains a vital instrument for strengthening unity and fostering a sense of collective identity. He urged supporters of the traditional institution to remain committed to promoting peace, supporting the Ukwe Takum stool, and serving as worthy ambassadors of Takum both within Nigeria and in the diaspora.
The KYN President further highlighted the importance of partnerships and collective efforts in advancing human development, noting that Takum and the Kuteb Nation remain open to extending bonds of friendship, cooperation and goodwill across Nigeria and beyond. He encouraged members of the community to channel their influence towards initiatives capable of promoting peace, unity and development.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Ussa Local Government Council, Hon. Abershi Musa, reaffirmed the importance of collective leadership in advancing the interests of the Kuteb community. He identified peace and security as key priorities of his administration in Ussa — a predominantly Kuteb local government area — and commended the organisers for using the banquet to promote unity among the people.
He also charged the new KYN leadership to broaden its outlook and explore opportunities that would position the Kuteb Nation for greater participation in the global economy.
“I charge Kuteb Yatso of Nigeria to expand the scope of its engagement and position the Kuteb Nation effectively within the global economy. Our collective agenda must embrace information and communications technology, manufacturing, agro-processing, innovation and enterprise development,” Hon. Abershi said.
Other speakers at the event urged the newly elected executives to embrace inclusive leadership, transparency and a clear developmental vision as they begin their tenure.
The high point of the ceremony was the formal presentation and recognition of the newly elected National Executives of KYN, who were congratulated and encouraged to provide effective representation for the Kuteb people in Nigeria and across the diaspora.
Among those in attendance were former Senator representing Taraba South, Sen. Emmanuel Bwacha, Esq., CON, former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Danjuma Usman (Danji SS), former Senator representing Taraba Central, Sen. Abubakar Tutare, Hon. Jesse Adi Ashumate, Member representing Ussa Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly, Hon. Rikupki U. Joshua, Chief Iliya Ezekiel, and the Executive Chairman of Ussa Local Government Council, Hon. Abershi Musa, alongside traditional leaders, community figures, political stakeholders and members of the Kuteb intelligentsia.
The event concluded with cultural displays, networking and renewed pledges of support for the new leadership, with participants expressing optimism that the administration would strengthen unity, preserve Kuteb heritage and advance peace and development across the community.
