Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has challenged the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to inaugurate its presidential campaign council and appoint Arise News anchor Rufai Oseni as its spokesperson.
Olayinka made the remark in a post on X, where he suggested that Oseni should be formally named to the role, in an apparent dig at the broadcaster amid recent exchanges involving the two men.
“Peter Obi’s NDC should release its Presidential Campaign Council so that Rufai Oseni can officially assume his position as Spokesperson,” Olayinka wrote.
His comment followed criticism of the list of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council’s media and strategic communications directorate, which Olayinka had earlier published.
Faulting their criticisms, Olayinka posted on X: “Of all the people whose names were published yesterday as members of the PBAT/APC Presidential Campaign Council’s Directorate of Media and Strategic Communications, @ayomairoese of @ARISEtv Morning Show only saw Lere Olayinka.
“I hope this one dey sleep well with her husband on top Lere Olayinka’s ‘No Gree For Anybody’s’ style like this.”
The NDC, whose presidential candidate is Peter Obi, had announced plans to inaugurate its Presidential Campaign Council on October 20, 2026.
The party’s National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas, had also said the NDC was prepared to take on the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Olayinka’s remarks add to the ongoing political exchanges between supporters of the ruling party and opposition figures as preparations for the next election gather pace.
