2027: Rufai Oseni Faults Tinubu’s Kaduna Campaign Speech, Blames Aides for Poor Preparation

Rufai Oseni

Arise Television anchor Rufai Oseni has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s performance at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Kaduna State, describing his speech as poorly delivered and questioning the preparedness of the president’s campaign team ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday, Oseni said the president’s address lacked the quality expected of a leader seeking re-election after nearly four years in office. He argued that Tinubu’s aides failed to equip him with a clear and well-structured message for his first campaign outing.

“I think that was the worst campaign speech I’ve ever heard in my life by President Tinubu.

“I think it was best he should not have even campaigned in Kaduna, because that was a terrible one for the eyes and for the ears,” he said.

Oseni questioned why the president’s campaign council did not prepare a concise speech highlighting the administration’s achievements, explaining its policies and addressing public concerns ahead of the 2027 polls.

He maintained that a five-minute address outlining the government’s record and policy direction would have provided Tinubu with a better opportunity to defend his administration and communicate its priorities to Nigerians.

The broadcaster also challenged the motives and commitment of members of the president’s campaign team, suggesting that they had failed in their responsibility to prepare him for a crucial political engagement.

“What is wrong with you guys? Is this how much you are so concerned about just collecting money from him?” Oseni asked.

He further faulted Tinubu’s handling of the petrol subsidy removal and his attempt to attribute the poverty and hunger experienced by Nigerians to the opposition.

According to Oseni, the address lacked coherence, structure and a clearly articulated ideological position, leaving the president without a convincing defence of his government’s policies and decisions.

“You just allow a man like that to ad lib at his inaugural campaign speech after four years in office, where he needs to make a great defence, what did you guys do to him?” he said.

Oseni insisted that the president’s aides had let him down by failing to ensure adequate preparation for a speech that could shape public perception of his re-election bid.

“I feel for President Tinubu this morning,” Oseni added.

The criticism comes as the APC begins its campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Tinubu seeking a second term in office. The Kaduna rally marks an important moment in the party’s efforts to present the president’s record to voters as the next electoral contest approaches.
