The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has introduced QR codes in Lagos State to help eligible voters locate designated centres for collecting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The commission said the codes would be available through its official website and social media platforms, allowing voters to scan them and access information on where to obtain their cards.
Lagos Resident Electoral Commissioner, Professor Ayobami Salami, announced the initiative during a press conference at the commission’s state headquarters. He urged eligible voters to collect their PVCs, verify their registration details and rely exclusively on official channels for election-related information.
Salami also stressed the importance of increased voter participation as the commission intensifies preparations for the forthcoming elections.
INEC disclosed that other aspects of its preparations were progressing, including the procurement and testing of voter accreditation devices, improvements to election-result transmission systems, logistical planning, and the recruitment and training of electoral personnel.
According to the commission, these measures are designed to strengthen its operational capacity and support an orderly electoral process.
The QR code initiative is part of efforts by INEC’s Lagos office to simplify access to voter information, encourage registration verification and ensure that eligible residents obtain their PVCs before election day.
