The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ,EFCC, has issued a fresh invitation to former Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva, over an alleged $14.86 million financial fraud case.
The former governor was reportedly asked to appear before the anti-graft agency after failing to honour an earlier invitation.
The EFCC is investigating allegations relating to the handling of public funds during Sylva’s tenure as governor of Bayelsa State.
The latest summons is part of the commission’s ongoing investigation into the matter.
Sylva, who served as Bayelsa governor from 2007 to 2012, has previously denied allegations of wrongdoing linked to his tenure.
The anti-graft agency’s spokesman, Dele Oyewale, made the announcement on Monday.
“He has been declared wanted; he should make himself available to the commission.” Oyewale said.
CSONews24 recalls that the EFCC declared Sylva wanted in November 2025 in connection with an alleged case of conspiracy and dishonest conversion involving $14,859,257.
The EFCC is expected to question the former governor on the financial transactions under investigation as it works to establish the facts surrounding the allegations.
The commission has not disclosed the outcome of the latest invitation, while the investigation remains ongoing.
