The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has intensified its offensive against criminal activities in the nation’s capital, carrying out coordinated raids on identified black spots that led to the arrest of 560 suspects.
The operation, conducted across several locations in Abuja, forms part of the Command’s ongoing strategy to dismantle criminal networks, curb violent crimes and strengthen public safety through intelligence-led policing and community engagement.
Police said the suspects were rounded up during raids on locations believed to serve as hideouts for suspected criminals, drug peddlers and other persons involved in unlawful activities.
According to the Command, those arrested are currently undergoing profiling and screening, while investigations are ongoing to determine their level of involvement in various criminal offences. Suspects found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The Command explained that the operation was part of sustained efforts to deny criminal elements safe havens within the Federal Capital Territory and reassure residents of improved security.
It added that intelligence gathering and community policing remain central to its crime-fighting strategy, noting that information supplied by citizens has continued to support security operations across the territory.
Citizens were urged to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, stressing that public cooperation is vital to preventing crime and improving security in the nation’s capital.
