Air Peace and United Nigeria Airlines accounted for the highest number of delayed domestic flights recorded in Nigeria in August 2026, according to data released by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA.
The aviation regulator disclosed that domestic carriers recorded 4,765 delays and 36 cancellations during the month, in its summary of flight disruption operations published on Sunday via its official X handle.
The NCAA said 15 airlines operated a combined 7,961 flights during the period, with delays affecting about 59.9 per cent of their operations.
Air Peace, which operated the largest number of flights at 1,864, recorded 1,330 delays, translating to 71.4 per cent of its total operations.
United Nigeria recorded the highest delay rate among the airlines monitored, with 943 of its 1,231 flights affected. The carrier also posted eight cancellations, the highest figure recorded by any airline during the month.
Enugu Air followed with 582 delayed flights out of 878 operations and four cancellations.
Breaking down the duration of the disruptions, the NCAA said 2,801 delayed flights were held up for between 16 minutes and one hour, while 1,322 experienced delays lasting between one and two hours.
A further 407 flights were delayed for between two and three hours, while 235 experienced disruptions lasting three hours or longer.
Air Peace accounted for 108 of the longest delays, while Enugu Air recorded 46 and United Nigeria had 41.
At the other end of the performance table, Umza Air was identified as the best-performing carrier, recording 52 delays from 403 flights without any cancellation. Xe Jet followed with 40 delays out of 127 flights.
“Others were Aero with 246 delays from 469 flights, Arik 188 from 301, Ibom Air 254 from 560, Max Air 204 from 336, Rano Air 216 from 503, Value Jet 435 from 767, Green Africa 114 from 226, Overland 139 from 239 and Binani 22 from 57.
“NG Eagle recorded no operations during the period,” the NCAA said.
