The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has alleged that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is approaching the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election as a “do-or-die affair”.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, made the allegation on Wednesday during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time.
Abdullahi was reacting to a controversial comment attributed to Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who represents Osun East Senatorial District, after the lawmaker was captured in a video telling supporters to “go and kill them” in reference to members of the Accord Party ahead of the election.
The ADC spokesman argued that the statement should not be dismissed as a figure of speech.
Fadahunsi had subsequently defended himself, saying he was quoted out of context and that his reference was to defeating the Accord Party politically rather than killing its members.
Reacting to the controversy, Abdullahi said, “the Osun election is a do-or-die affair to the APC. Senator Fadahunsi’s ‘go and kill them’ comment was not a metaphor.
“I don’t blame the senator for saying what he said; I blame the president because he got his authorisation from the president.
“President Tinubu has said all is fair in politics, and that means you can kill, steal, or do whatever it takes to deliver victory.
The ADC official’s comments come ahead of Saturday’s governorship poll, with political parties and candidates intensifying campaigns and mobilisation across Osun State.
