The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate for the Ifelodun, Boripe and Odo-Otin Federal Constituency, Francis Eniade, has allegedly been attacked and injured in an incident involving the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun.
The alleged confrontation occurred on Wednesday, barely 48 hours before the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election.
A photograph circulating on X showed Eniade covered in blood, with reports claiming that several other people were also injured and vehicles damaged during the incident.
An X user who claimed to have witnessed or received information about the incident wrote on Wednesday: “Speaker Wale Egbedun just attacked Eniade. Dozens were injured, and several cars were destroyed. Where are the so-called neutrals to condemn this?”
The Osun State Police Command had not publicly confirmed the alleged attack as of the time of filing this report.
The development comes amid heightened political tension in the state ahead of Saturday’s governorship poll.
Egbedun, who is supporting the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, had reportedly called for the arrest of Senator Francis Fadahunsi and Eniade over alleged inciting comments linked to the election.
Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, appeared before the Osun State Police Command on Wednesday over his alleged “Kill Accord Party supporters” remarks.
The senator had earlier been seen in a viral video making comments that triggered widespread reactions, although he later maintained that his statement was taken out of context.
The Osun governorship contest is expected to be largely fought among Adeleke and APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, while the Social Democratic Party’s Dr Francis Ajala was cleared to participate in the election on Wednesday.
With the poll only two days away, the latest allegations have further heightened concerns over possible violence and political clashes in the state.
Police confirmation of the alleged attack, including the identities of those injured and the circumstances surrounding the incident, is still awaited.
