Security stakeholders in Zamfara State have called for stronger surveillance of the state’s porous borders to prevent the movement of criminal groups and curb banditry.
The call was made during a security engagement focused on finding lasting solutions to the insecurity affecting Zamfara and other parts of the North-West.
The stakeholders stressed the need for closer cooperation among security agencies, border authorities, local communities and neighbouring states to strengthen intelligence gathering and prevent criminals from exploiting unmonitored routes.
They also advocated improved monitoring of vulnerable border corridors and better coordination among security agencies operating across state and national boundaries.
The stakeholders noted that criminal networks often exploit gaps along borders to move between communities, making coordinated surveillance essential to ongoing efforts against banditry.
They urged the relevant authorities to sustain security operations while strengthening intelligence-sharing mechanisms and community engagement.
The meeting underscored the need for a coordinated regional approach to tackling insecurity and restoring lasting peace in Zamfara State.
