Theatre Commander Urges North-East Troops to Intensify Offensive Against Terrorists

The Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has charged troops deployed in the North-East to sustain aggressive military operations against terrorist groups operating across the region.

The charge was conveyed by Major General Godwin Mutkut, the Commander Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army, who urged frontline personnel to maintain the momentum of ongoing offensives and deny insurgents the opportunity to regroup.

Mutkut has told the troops of the 27 Task Force Brigade, Sector 2 of Operation HADIN KAI to keep up their aggressive, professional, and committed approach in the fight against Boko Haram and ISWAP in the North-East.

Mutkut commended the troops for their resilience and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, urging them to remain disciplined, vigilant and professional while carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.

He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to eliminating terrorist threats and restoring lasting peace in the North-East, stressing the need for sustained pressure on insurgent groups through coordinated operations.

On Wednesday, Lieutenant Tasi’u Abdullahi Abbas, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, released a statement. In it, he shared that a visiting General praised the officers and soldiers for their bravery, toughness, and the sacrifices they’ve made. These efforts are crucial for protecting Nigeria’s borders, even when facing tough operational difficulties.

The senior military officer also assured the troops of the military leadership’s continued support, including improved welfare, logistics and operational resources to enhance their effectiveness in the field.

“The troops must maintain a high level of vigilance, discipline, combat readiness and offensive spirit in all operations.

“There should be no room for complacency in the theatre,” he said.

Mutkut expressed confidence in the troops’ ability to consolidate recent operational gains and further degrade the capabilities of terrorist groups threatening security in the region.
