The Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) has dismissed reports suggesting that rival factions of the organisation in Taraba State have reached an agreement to reconcile their differences.
The group said the reports were misleading and did not reflect the position of its recognised leadership.
The command, in a statement signed by its Acting State Vice Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Aliyu, alleged that some persons had been visiting various VGN offices, claiming that two factions existed within the organisation in Taraba State and had recently reconciled.
VGN maintained that its legitimate leadership structure remains intact and urged members and the public to disregard claims suggesting that a factional settlement had been concluded.
“The individuals and their associates had been restrained and barred from claiming leadership or membership of the organisation by subsisting court judgments,” the statement read.
The organisation also called on security agencies and relevant authorities to take note of the development and prevent individuals from using its name to create confusion within the group.
The clarification follows reports of efforts to resolve the leadership dispute that has divided the VGN in Taraba State.
VGN urged its members to remain calm and committed to the organisation’s objectives while the matter is addressed through the appropriate channels.
