Nigeria’s Super Falcons have begun preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after officially opening their training camp in Casablanca, Morocco, ahead of the continental tournament.
Head coach Justine Madugu is expected to welcome all 25 invited players to camp as the nine-time African champions commence intensive training aimed at mounting another successful campaign. The coaching crew will use the camping period to assess players’ fitness, fine-tune tactics and strengthen team cohesion before the competition begins.
The team will remain in Casablanca for the early phase of preparations before relocating to Rabat, where they will play their Group C matches. Nigeria has been drawn alongside Zambia, Egypt and Malawi in a group expected to provide stiff competition.
The Super Falcons head into the championship as one of the favourites, banking on a blend of experienced stars and emerging talents as they seek to extend their dominance in African women’s football.
The 2026 WAFCON, to be staged in Morocco, also carries added importance as teams battle for continental glory and a strong showing on the road to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
