Nigerian troops under the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 13 kidnapped victims and thwarted planned terrorist activities during separate operations in Zamfara State.
The operations, conducted in Anka and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas, followed intelligence reports on the movement of armed groups and their plans to attack vulnerable communities.
In Anka Local Government Area, troops intercepted terrorists heading towards Tungan Kudaduku, forcing them to abandon their mission and retreat after a military response. A follow-up search operation led to the discovery of a makeshift camp where five kidnapped civilians were rescued unharmed.
In another operation in Ungwan Rogo, Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, troops engaged terrorists in a confrontation that compelled the attackers to flee and abandon their captives. Eight kidnapped victims were subsequently rescued, while two vehicles were recovered.
The military said the operations reflect ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks, protect residents and restore stability in communities affected by insecurity in the North-West region.
