The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices ,POCACOV, has intensified its anti-cultism campaign in Ogun State, urging youths to reject cultism and other activities capable of undermining their future.
The engagement was led by the State POCACOV Coordinator, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, to strengthen preventive policing through youth-focused outreach.
The campaign formed part of POCACOV’s nationwide youth sensitisation drive aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of cultism and promoting positive values among young people.
During the programme, participants were encouraged to shun cult-related activities, violence, substance abuse and other social vices, while embracing education, responsible citizenship and productive engagement.
The initiative also secured a commitment from participating youths to distance themselves from cultism and support efforts aimed at promoting peace and security in their communities.
A program launched Monday aims to equip young Nigerians with the knowledge to resist cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime, and gang violence, threats that endanger schools and communities nationwide.
POCACOV stressed the importance of early intervention and continuous engagement with young people in preventing youth involvement in criminal activities.
The campaign organisers called on parents, schools, community leaders and other stakeholders to strengthen their support for initiatives that promote responsible behaviour and provide constructive opportunities for youths.
The programme is part of broader efforts by the police to deepen community participation in crime prevention and create safer communities across the country.
