Businessman Isaac Fayose has expressed concern over the security situation in Osun State following the circulation of a video allegedly showing suspected political thugs being arrested ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
Fayose’s reaction came after Afrobeat singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, shared a video on Thursday which purportedly showed the arrest of suspected political thugs allegedly linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The footage reportedly showed about 11 suspects being conveyed in an APC campaign vehicle before their alleged arrest.
The development has raised fresh concerns over the security situation in Osun, where allegations of political attacks, violence and killings have featured prominently in the build-up to the August 15 governorship poll.
Reacting to the video, Fayose expressed alarm over what he described as the growing presence of political thuggery in the state.
He also warned that the situation could have wider implications for Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“I hope you all are seeing APC’s respiration in Osun. They have flooded the state with all kinds of thugs. We are in trouble.
“APC wants to win by force and so they brought thugs to the state. We are in trouble in 2027. If you think we are okay, we are not.
“This APC desperation does not have part two. Nigerians, you must arise and take your country back. This is definitely not the country you want.”
The allegations come amid a bitter campaign between the major contenders in the Osun election.
The APC and Accord Party have continued to accuse one another of involvement in attacks and other forms of political violence across different parts of the state.
The claims have further intensified concerns among residents and election stakeholders as security agencies prepare for Saturday’s poll.
However, the allegations contained in the viral footage and the political claims surrounding it remain subject to verification by the relevant authorities.
