The Deputy Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party ,PDP, in Ogun State, Lateefat Sowunmi-Kolapo, has urged politicians to move beyond election-time promises and focus on delivering meaningful governance to the people.
Sowunmi-Kolapo said governance should not be reduced to gestures made during election campaigns, stressing that elected leaders must remain accountable to citizens throughout their tenure.
She made the call while speaking on the need for improved leadership and development in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The PDP candidate emphasised the importance of policies that directly improve the lives of residents, including better infrastructure, economic opportunities and social welfare.
She urged politicians to prioritise the interests of the people rather than viewing elections solely as an opportunity to gain political power.
Sowunmi-Kolapo maintained that effective governance requires consistent engagement with citizens and measurable results beyond campaign periods.
