NSCDC Boss Audi Inducts 100 Anti-Fraud Officers, Reaffirms Zero Tolerance for Corruption

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, has charged personnel of the Corps to uphold integrity, transparency and accountability in the discharge of their duties.

Audi gave the charge in Abuja on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, during the induction of 100 officers into the NSCDC Anti-Fraud Unit and the launch of two books authored by the Head of the Unit, Commandant of Corps Emeribe Chinyere Victory, PhD.

The Commandant General stressed that integrity was fundamental to the effective discharge of the Corps’ responsibilities, including the protection of lives and property, maintenance of public order and promotion of community safety.

He warned that fraud and corruption posed serious threats to the effectiveness and credibility of the Corps, noting that such practices could erode public confidence and damage the reputation of the wider civil service.

“Fraud and corruption are insidious threats that can undermine our efforts, erode public trust, and compromise the very fabric of our agency,” Audi said.

He added that the threats not only affected the operational effectiveness of the Corps but also tarnished its reputation, stressing the need for personnel to remain committed to ethical conduct and accountability.

“Today, we take a stand against these threats, reinforcing our commitment to ethical conduct and accountability,” the NSCDC boss said.

In her welcome address, the Head of the Anti-Fraud Unit, Commandant of Corps Emeribe Chinyere Victory, said the unit remained committed to strengthening integrity, transparency and accountability across the Corps.

Emeribe disclosed that the Anti-Fraud Unit was established in 2007, with its initial training conducted at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Institute in 2008.

She said successive leaderships of the Corps had continued to strengthen the capacity of the unit, enabling it to effectively carry out its mandate.

According to her, the unit is responsible for detecting, preventing and investigating corrupt activities involving personnel and contractors of the Corps.

She expressed appreciation to Audi for providing an enabling environment for the unit to operate without interference, which she said had contributed to its effectiveness.

The event also featured the launch of two books authored by Emeribe, titled The Dark Side of Duty and The Anti-Fraud Lexicon. The books were reviewed by a retired Assistant Controller General of Corrections, ACG Hammed Abodurin, PhD, fdc.

Goodwill messages were delivered by representatives of key security and intelligence institutions, including the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), Hajiya Hafsat Abubakar Bakori; Peter Edako, representing the National Intelligence Agency (NIA); DCP Adeola Odetunde, representing the Inspector General of Police; and ACG Lakitile Cyrus, representing the Controller General of Corrections.

The induction and book launch underscored the NSCDC’s renewed commitment to strengthening internal accountability and combating fraud and corruption within the Corps.
