The Taraba State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has dismissed reports alleging that its operatives uncovered a “drug bunker” at the Taraba State College of Nursing and Midwifery.
The command described the report as misleading, clarifying that no underground facility used for storing illicit drugs was discovered at the institution.
The command, through an official clarification signed by its Public Relations Officer, Mawoh Paul Voloh, on Tuesday, stated that no operations were conducted at the college or in its surrounding areas.
The agency urged the public to disregard the report and rely on verified information from the NDLEA when seeking details about its operations in the state.
The clarification followed the circulation of the claim on social media, which generated concerns among students, parents and residents.
The NDLEA reaffirmed its commitment to tackling drug trafficking and abuse in Taraba State through intelligence-driven operations and public sensitisation.
“The photographs and narrative being circulated online should not be attributed to the NDLEA Taraba Command. It has no official record of such an operation or report.” the NDLEA said.
The agency also urged members of the public to avoid spreading unverified reports capable of creating unnecessary fear or damaging the reputation of institutions.
