Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday held a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, amid heightened political activities ahead of the 2027 general election.
Jonathan arrived at the State House in the afternoon for the private meeting, which lasted for some time before he departed. Neither the Presidency nor the former President disclosed the agenda of the talks.
Although details of the meeting remain unknown, the engagement has drawn public attention as political consultations continue across party lines in the build-up to the 2027 polls.
CSONews24 recalls that the Tanimu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stated on May 30th that they had submitted Jonathan’s name and credentials to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as their candidate.
The meeting underscores the ongoing interactions among key political leaders as discussions over national issues and the country’s political future gather momentum.
Both leaders declined to address journalists after the meeting, leaving the purpose and outcome of their discussions undisclosed.
