Former Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Robinson Ewor, has accused suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara of misleading Rivers people over the political crisis involving the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Speaking on ARISE Television’s The Morning Show, Ewor alleged that Fubara led Rivers residents to believe that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, was obstructing his administration and preventing him from effectively carrying out his responsibilities as governor.
He said, “It’s Fubara himself who betrayed the people of Rivers. If Fubara had been open, transparent, and communicated with the people of Rivers, I don’t think the women would have taken to the streets.
“I don’t think our leaders would have given him the level of support they did, including myself.
“I said several unprintable words against the FCT Minister believing that he was stopping Fubara from doing his work but at the end of the day, we discovered that it wasn’t so.
“Fubara is not open, up till now he is still not open. If he tells Rivers people this is where I stand, they won’t take all the risk they have taken, but he has let Rivers people know where.
“I thank God that he had led Rivers people back to the Rainbow Coalition.”
According to him, many residents rallied behind the governor believing he was being unfairly targeted, but recent events have, in his view, shown that the situation was more complex than initially portrayed.
The former PDP acting chairman said the crisis has had significant political and governance implications for Rivers State, urging political leaders to place the interests of the people above personal ambitions and political rivalries.
He also called for genuine reconciliation among key stakeholders to restore stability in the state, stressing that lasting peace can only be achieved through dialogue, mutual trust and respect for established political agreements.
