The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched a special highway enforcement operation across the North-West to tackle the growing rate of road traffic crashes and improve safety on major routes in the region.
The operation, codenamed “Daidaita Lodi” and “Lodi Limit,” is being set and put in place simultaneously across the FRSC’s 12 zones nationwide to improve compliance with road safety regulations.
The initiative, code-named Operation Fushin Zuma, will be implemented across the zone as part of the Corps’ Zonal Special Intervention Patrol aimed at addressing location-specific road safety challenges through intensified enforcement and public awareness.
Speaking at the flag-off in Sokoto, the Zonal Commanding Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Shaba Bariam Akanbi, said the exercise followed the directive of the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, to strengthen enforcement against dangerous road practices.
According to the FRSC, the operation will focus on curbing dangerous driving practices, enforcing traffic regulations, strengthening emergency response, engaging key stakeholders, and increasing patrol visibility on highways to reduce crashes and save lives.
The Corps said the intervention forms part of a broader strategy approved by Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed to promote safer roads through intelligence-led operations and sustained compliance with traffic laws across the country.
