The Edo State House of Assembly has removed its Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, from office amid a leadership shake-up in the state legislature.
CSONews24 reports that Agbebaku, who represents Owan West Constituency, was removed during plenary on Monday, August 17, 2026.
The development followed reported moves by lawmakers to replace him, although details surrounding the circumstances of his removal were initially unclear.
The former Speaker had served as head of the Assembly since 2023 and previously represented the constituency on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Following his exit, Osawmonyi Atu, representing Orhionmwon I Constituency, was reported to have emerged as the new Speaker after previously serving as Deputy Speaker.
