The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department ,FCID, DIG Margaret Ochalla, has been honoured with the 2026 Gender Sensitivity Award by the UFUK Dialogue Foundation Nigeria for her commitment to promoting gender inclusion, peaceful coexistence and professional policing in Nigeria.
Ochalla received the award under the Individual Award Category of the 2026 Peace and Dialogue Awards, organised by the UFUK Dialogue Foundation Nigeria in collaboration with the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution (IPCR).
The FCID, in a statement issued on September 11, 2026 and signed by SP Funmilayo Eguaoje, Police Public Relations Officer, FCID, Abuja described the recognition as a reflection of Ochalla’s leadership and dedication to gender-responsive policing, inclusiveness and the protection of citizens’ rights and dignity.
The department said her recognition also demonstrated the Nigeria Police Force’s growing commitment to professional leadership, fairness and equal opportunity.
According to the statement, Ochalla’s emergence as the only female member of the Nigeria Police Force Management Team was a testament to her hard work, honesty, integrity and professionalism.
The FCID commended the UFUK Dialogue Foundation Nigeria and IPCR for recognising Ochalla’s contributions to gender-sensitive policing and peacebuilding in Nigeria.
It reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote justice, professionalism, inclusiveness, public confidence and sustainable peace across the country.
