A member of the House of Representatives representing Bukkuyum/Gummi Federal Constituency of Zamfara State, Suleiman Abubakar Gummi, has raised fresh concerns over the escalating wave of bandit attacks in his constituency, warning that residents are living under constant threat.
Gummi said repeated attacks by armed bandits have resulted in killings, kidnappings and the displacement of several communities, with many residents unable to carry out farming and other economic activities.
The lawmaker made the call in a statement personally signed and made available to journalists in Gusau on Monday.
The lawmaker described the worsening security situation as alarming, stressing that urgent intervention by the Federal Government and security agencies is needed to halt the violence and restore normalcy in the affected areas.
He called for intensified military operations, improved intelligence gathering and sustained security presence across vulnerable communities to curb the activities of criminal gangs.
According to Gummi, addressing the security crisis is essential to protecting lives and livelihoods, as well as enabling displaced residents to return to their homes.
He urged the authorities to take decisive measures to end the persistent attacks, insisting that communities in Zamfara deserve lasting peace and adequate protection.
