The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticized the administration of President Bola Tinubu over the worsening economic hardship in the country, accusing the government of failing to adequately address the rising cost of living and increasing food insecurity affecting millions of Nigerians.
A statement released by the African democratic congress stated that “The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has received with profound concern the latest assessment by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), which confirms that Nigeria is now facing one of its worst food security emergencies in almost a decade.”
The ADC said the government’s economic policies have not delivered the expected relief for Nigerians, urging the administration to take immediate steps to address inflation, improve purchasing power, and provide solutions capable of easing the burden on citizens.
The ADC called on President Tinubu to prioritise policies that directly improve the welfare of citizens, stressing that economic growth must translate into better living conditions for ordinary Nigerians
The ADC’s claims come amid continued public debate over the impact of the Federal Government’s economic reforms, particularly the removal of fuel subsidy and other measures introduced by the Tinubu administration. While the government has maintained that the policies are necessary for long-term economic recovery, opposition parties have repeatedly argued that their immediate effects have increased economic pressure on Nigerians.
