The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of placing greater emphasis on preparations for the 2027 general elections than addressing the country’s worsening economic and governance challenges.
The opposition party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said Nigeria’s current difficulties require urgent attention, arguing that the federal government appears more concerned with political calculations ahead of the next election cycle than with tackling the hardships confronting citizens.
Abdullahi maintained that the nation’s economic and social conditions continue to deteriorate, insisting that the government should channel its efforts towards implementing policies capable of improving the welfare of Nigerians rather than focusing on electoral strategies. He alleged that the country’s leadership has failed to give adequate priority to issues affecting livelihoods across the federation.
According to him, the ADC remains committed to presenting itself as a credible alternative by advocating policies aimed at national recovery, economic stability and accountable governance. He expressed confidence that Nigerians would assess political parties based on their commitment to resolving the country’s pressing challenges ahead of future elections.
