Paul Ibe, media aide to African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has backed calls for legal action against FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Governors Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State over their participation in President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 presidential campaign council.
Ibe supported moves by concerned members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Accord Party to approach the courts to determine whether the politicians could serve in the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign structure without formal authorisation from their respective parties.
“That is the way to go,” Ibe wrote in a post on X, endorsing the proposed legal challenge.
He argued that the courts should determine whether politicians can support the electoral ambitions of rival parties without complying with the constitutions of the parties to which they belong.
“No politician, however powerful, should enjoy immunity from obligations that remain binding on ordinary party members,” he said.
Ibe called on the PDP to explain the constitutional basis for Wike’s participation in Tinubu’s campaign council. He also urged the Accord Party to clarify Adeleke’s role, particularly in relation to its own presidential candidacy.
Similarly, he asked the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to explain the authority under which Soludo was participating in the APC campaign council.
The ADC chieftain said the controversy raised broader questions about party discipline and whether the rules governing political parties applied equally to influential leaders and ordinary members.
The dispute comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general election, with the involvement of opposition figures in Tinubu’s campaign prompting debate over party loyalty and the need for clear constitutional procedures.
