Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, has urged President Bola Tinubu to direct members of his cabinet to mobilise grassroots support in their respective states ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ahmad made the recommendation in a post on X on Tuesday, arguing that ministers should take a more active role in connecting the administration with citizens and communicating its policies, achievements and vision.
He proposed that each minister organise town hall meetings and engage directly with residents in their home states to strengthen the president’s political support ahead of the polls.
Ahmad said: “I strongly believe that President Bola Tinubu should consider deploying his cabinet members back to their respective states to intensify grassroots engagement, interact directly with the electorate and properly communicate the achievements, policies and vision of his administration.
“Every minister should take responsibility for building stronger support for the president in their home state through town hall meetings and direct engagement with citizens.
“Let every minister win his or her state for the president.”
