The four leading contenders for this year’s Ballon d’Or have been identified as the 2026 FIFA World Cup final approaches.
Lionel Messi, the captain of Argentina, is now the favorite to win the Ballon d’Or later this year.
Messi provided two assists as Albiceleste beat England 2-1 to qualify for the final, where they will face Spain.
Polymarket suggests the 39-year-old has a 31.7% probability of winning this year’s Ballon d’Or award.
In second place is Barcelona winger, Lamine Yamal, with 30.9%.
England captain Harry Kane has a 13.5% probability, and France’s Ousmane Dembele has a 3.1% chance. The winner of the 2026 Ballon d’Or will be announced at a gala on October 26.
