Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 159 Battalion, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have killed a suspected terrorist and arrested another during a patrol in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The operation took place on Monday, October 5, 2026, when the security personnel encountered the suspected terrorists at Abakuradi village in Geidam LGA.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the development in a post on X on Wednesday, stating that one of the suspects was killed during the encounter while another was taken into custody alive.

The troops also recovered an AK-47 rifle from the suspects following the operation.

Makama said the arrested suspect remains in military custody and is being held for further interrogation and necessary action after the completion of the investigation.

The latest operation comes amid continued security efforts by Nigerian troops and local security groups to curb terrorist activities in parts of the North-East.
