President Bola Tinubu has approved an upward review of the salaries and welfare package of Nigerian military personnel as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s armed forces and improve their operational effectiveness.
Minister of Defense, General Christopher Musa, rtd, stated that President Bola Tinubu will soon announce a salary increase for Nigerian Armed Forces personnel.
The Minister of Defense, through his media aide Leah Katung-Babatunde, announced that this initiative reflects the Federal Government’s ongoing dedication to enhancing troop welfare and acknowledging their sacrifices.
He also mentioned that military pay was previously increased from N49,000 to N100,000 during his time as Chief of Defence Staff.
Musa stated, “I want to state here that a few weeks ago, I mentioned that soldiers are now receiving N100,000. When I was Chief of Defence Staff, soldiers were receiving N49,000.
“About two years ago, I pushed for an increase to N100,000, and that was achieved. We are, however, making further efforts to increase it again”.
