Ambassador Mukhtar Ya’u Madobi holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Botany with First Class Honours from Bayero University Kano in 2015. He also bagged a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Ethnobotany with distinction from the same university in 2022.

His foray into journalism began in 2021 when he joined PRNigeria- a subsidiary of Image Merchant Promotion Limited (IMPR) as a Staff Writer.

Driven by his passion for journalism, he attended the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ) Abuja, a training wing of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), between 2021 and 2022, where he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism (PGDJ).

As a Defence and Security correspondent, he attended the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna, where he bagged a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Defence and Security Studies between 2022 and 2024.

Mr. Mukhtar participated in the maiden National Security Course on Psychological Operations and Strategic Communication I (NSCPOSC-1), organized by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) which was held in Abuja in January 2024. He also participated in the Capacity Building Workshop on Conflict Reporting for Journalists, jointly organized by the German organization- Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, Premium Times Center for Investigative Journalism and DUBAWA, which took place in 2021 in Abuja.

Furthermore, Mr. Mukhtar has conducted a series of investigative and special reports tailored towards championing humanitarian causes in Kano, Niger, and Kebbi states, respectively.

In addition, he has written several opinion and feature articles on defense, security, ecosystem/climate change, emergencies, and response issues that were published in many national dailies, such as Daily Trust, The Nation, Tribune, The Punch, Blueprint, Vanguard and The Guardian.

In terms of professional body memberships, he is an associate member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the Network for Advocates of Digital Reporting (NADIR), and the Association of Kano Online Journalists (ASKOJ), among others
