The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a temporary interruption in electricity supply to several areas of Abuja on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
The planned outage is linked to preventive maintenance work at the Central Area GIS 132/33kV Transmission Substation in the Federal Capital Territory.
According to TCN, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to receive electricity for distribution to customers within the affected areas during the maintenance period.
The affected locations include the Central Business District, Wuse Zones 1–7, Wuse Market, Sheraton Hotel, Jabi, Utako and surrounding communities.
The power interruption is scheduled to run from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Wednesday.
TCN said the exercise is part of routine efforts to inspect and maintain critical equipment at the transmission facility.
“The maintenance exercise will enable TCN engineers to undertake routine preventive checks on the transformer from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on Wednesday, September 23, 2026,” TCN stated.
The company said the intervention is intended to facilitate preventive checks on the transformer at the substation.
