Osun Police Investigate Killing of Woman Found With Missing Wrist

The Osun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of an unidentified woman whose body was discovered within the premises of a church in the Obelewo area of Osogbo.

The woman was reportedly found with her left wrist severed, with the missing body part believed to have been removed from the scene by unidentified persons.

The Force Public Relations Officer, Ani Iniedu, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Sunday, saying detectives were dispatched to the location after the discovery was reported.

According to the police, preliminary investigations suggested that the woman had been killed before her wrist was cut off and taken away.

“The investigations revealed that the deceased was slaughtered and her left wrist severed and taken away by unknown persons,” Iniedu said.

The spokesperson said investigators had yet to establish the identity of the deceased, determine the motive for the killing or ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.

He said detectives were working to identify the victim and obtain additional evidence that could assist in establishing what happened and identifying those behind the killing.

“The corpse was deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy,” Iniedu stated.

The State Command’s Investigation Department has since assumed responsibility for the case and commenced further inquiries to establish the circumstances of the woman’s death, identify the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the killing.
