Former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has opened up on his relationship with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, amid renewed political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
CSONews24 reports that Ortom and Wike were members of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) G-5 governors, alongside former governors Seyi Makinde, Okezie Ikpeazu and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, which opposed the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the 2023 election.
The former Benue governor said his political relationship with Wike was shaped by their time in the G-5 and their shared position on the need for equity within the PDP.
He maintained that political differences should not be interpreted as personal hostility, noting that politicians can disagree on issues while retaining mutual respect.
However, speaking on ARISE TV’s Morning Show on Tuesday, the former governor dismissed the speculation, saying he remains committed to Wike.
According to him, although they sometimes disagree, their political relationship remains intact.
“Sometimes we argue. I, Samuel Ortom, remain committed to the FCT Minister.
“I remain committed to our national leader, Nyesom Wike.” he said.
Ortom also spoke on his involvement in the PDP’s current political arrangements, stressing the need for leaders to prioritise the party’s future and the broader interests of Nigerians.
His comments come as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, with Wike openly backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while different opposition groups work to consolidate their platforms.
