Plateau United head coach Gbenga Ogunbote has described the team as a work in progress, despite its efforts to build momentum in the new Nigeria Premier Football League ,NPFL, season.
Ogunbote said the squad was still adapting to his methods and developing the understanding required to compete consistently at the highest level.
Alex Agahowa scored the winning goal for the Peace Boys in the matchday two fixture at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday.
The coach acknowledged areas that needed improvement, stressing that results would improve as the players gained a better understanding of their roles and tactical demands.
He urged supporters to remain patient with the team, saying the rebuilding process requires time and consistent work.
“Playing your first home game of the season comes with its own pressure and also trying to make up for the opening day defeat in Port Harcourt.” Ogunbote told the club’s media.
“The most important thing is that we got a win through a clean goal.”
Ogunbote also expressed confidence that Plateau United would continue to improve as the season progresses and become more competitive.
“The team is still a work in progress with the new recruits, but the synergy will be gradual with subsequent matches.” He added.
The Jos-based club will be hoping to translate the progress made in training into positive results as the NPFL campaign gathers momentum.
