Kano Pillars technical adviser Daniel Ogunmodede has praised his team’s performance after their emphatic 4-1 victory over Doma United in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Pillars secured the win in Sunday’s Matchday 4 fixture at the Sani Abacha Stadium, handing Doma United their first defeat of the season.
Ogunmodede stated that the keenly contested encounter lived up to expectations.
“We expected a tough game because they have gone three matches unbeaten with nine points and never conceded but we prepared very well for them,” Ogunmodede told the club’s media.
“Not playing last weekend gave us an ample opportunity to prepare more for them and no doubt, you could see they gave us a tough time.”
Abdullahi Musa, Rabiu Ali, Ahmed Musa and substitute Nasiru Salihu scored for the hosts, while Sadiq Rilwan got Doma United’s only goal.
Ogunmodede said his team expected a difficult encounter against a Doma United side that had won their opening three matches without conceding.
He credited the result to thorough preparation, noting that the team used the previous weekend without a fixture to prepare specifically for the league leaders.
The coach also explained that he made tactical changes after Doma United reduced the deficit in the second half, bringing fresh players into midfield and attack to limit the visitors’ ability to build from the back.
The victory extended Kano Pillars’ unbeaten start to the campaign, while Doma United remained on nine points despite the defeat.
