Sporting Lagos head coach Jeffrey Buter has attributed his team’s 3-2 victory over Plateau United to the players’ determination and ability to take advantage of key moments in the match.
Sporting Lagos came from behind to secure all three points in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday Nine encounter at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday.
Aliyu Baba gave the visitors the lead in the 10th minute, but Plateau United responded through Victor Dawa, who scored twice to put the hosts ahead 2-1 before the break.
Sporting Lagos fought back in the second half, with Victor Samuel restoring parity before Jacob Aondona scored the winning goal in the 83rd minute.
The visitors also benefited from a numerical advantage after Plateau United’s Alex Aghahowa was sent off for a second booking.
“We switched our press to a 4-5-1, which limited their wingers and fullbacks from having time and space.
“I think we played a very good second half. We dominated the game, found the early equaliser and went on to finish the game,” Buter told reporters after the game.
The victory marked Sporting Lagos’ third win in five away matches this season, strengthening their position among the leading teams in the league.
The result also ended Plateau United’s perfect home record in the current campaign, dealing a setback to the Jos-based side’s impressive start to the season.
