Nollywood actor and director Ikechukwu Nweke has appealed for financial assistance to continue treatment for colon cancer after spending more than N15 million on medical care.
Nweke, who disclosed his condition in a social media post titled My Cancer Journey, said months of treatment have involved chemotherapy, radiotherapy, medical tests, scans, medication and repeated hospital visits.
According to the filmmaker, the prolonged battle has taken a significant physical, emotional and financial toll on him and his family, despite support received from relatives and colleagues in the entertainment industry.
He said doctors have advised him to immediately proceed with the next phase of treatment to improve his chances of full recovery, but rising medical expenses have made it difficult to continue without public assistance.
Nweke acknowledged the support of Nollywood stars, including Destiny Etiko, Ebele Okaro, Lizzy Gold and Uche Nancy, whom he credited with providing financial, emotional and spiritual support during his treatment.
The actor urged Nigerians and other well-meaning individuals to assist him with donations and prayers, stressing that every contribution could help sustain his treatment.
