Former West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Ludek Miklosko has died at the age of 64 after a battle with cancer.
The Czech goalkeeper joined West Ham from Baník Ostrava in 1990 and quickly became a key figure at the club, helping the Hammers secure promotion in his first season.
Miklosko spent eight years with West Ham, making 373 appearances before joining Queens Park Rangers in 1998. He ended his playing career with QPR in 2001.
He also represented Czechoslovakia 40 times and later earned two caps for the Czech Republic. He was part of the Czechoslovakian squad at the 1990 FIFA World Cup.
Following his retirement, Miklosko returned to West Ham as the club’s goalkeeping coach, a role he held until 2010. He later worked in football administration, including roles with Baník Ostrava.
West Ham described Miklosko as a beloved and inspirational figure who remained deeply connected to the club and its supporters.
Miklosko had revealed in 2024 that he was no longer undergoing treatment for cancer. His death has prompted tributes from West Ham, former teammates and supporters.
