JUST IN: Sowore’s AAC Writes Tinubu, Seeks Presidential Villa for Campaign Inauguration, Logistics for Supporters

The African Action Congress (AAC) has written to President Bola Tinubu, seeking permission to inaugurate the Presidential Campaign Council of its presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on November 11, 2026.

The party also requested food, drinks and logistical support for 5,000 participants expected to attend the event, including supporters from within and outside Nigeria.

The demands were contained in a letter dated October 21, 2026, and signed by the party’s National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena.

The AAC said its requests were anchored on the principles of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness and equal treatment of political parties.

It reportedly cited similar arrangements extended to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as justification for seeking access to the seat of presidential power for its campaign council inauguration.

The party argued that public institutions and facilities should serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination, regardless of their political affiliations.

It also challenged the Tinubu administration to demonstrate its commitment to fairness and equal access by considering its requests.

The proposed inauguration comes ahead of the 2027 general elections, for which Sowore is expected to contest the presidency on the AAC platform.

The party’s request, if granted, would involve hosting a major opposition political event at the Presidential Villa, which serves as the official seat of Nigeria’s presidency.

There was no indication in the statement that the Presidency had approved the request or responded to the letter as of the time of the announcement.
